AWARDS: Why would someone travel to tiny little Clatskanie Oregon to play a game of chess? For the great trophies, medals and special awards that’s why! Trophies for 1st through 4th place in each section. Medallions for 3 wins or more. We will also have something special for chess players who did their best and learned a lot! No one goes home empty handed.
SITE: Clatskanie Community Center (Former middle school building) Access the Center from Bryant St. Physical address is: 520 SW Tichenor, Clatskanie OR.
DIRECTIONS: Travel Highway 30 west from Portland towards Astoria. (Clatskanie is approximately 60 miles northwest of Portland.) We’re a one stoplight town… don’t blink or you may miss it! Two streets past the light, turn left off of Hwy 30 onto Bryant Street. The Community Center is 6 blocks up, on the left. Parking is available on the street and in the gym parking lot across the street.
It may be faster for some folks to take I-5 to Longview, WA. Turn left onto 15th Ave. Take the Lewis & Clark Bridge across the Columbia River. Turn right onto Hwy 30 and then follow the directions above.
FORMAT: Five round Swiss. Time Control: G/30
SECTIONS: K-3, 4-6 and 7-12.
SCHEDULE: Check in between 9-9:30am. Coaches meeting at 9:45am. 1st round will start ASAP.
REGISTRATION: $10 entry fee.
This is a 100% pre registered event. You may register via email through January 17th. Mail must be post marked by January 15th. You may pay in advance or at the door. But there will be absolutely NO on site registration. Registration is limited to the first 50 players, so… what are you waiting for?

CONCESSIONS: Breakfast-type items, Fultano’s pizza, Subway sandwiches, beverages, fruit and the all important food group... junk.
